2024-25 Internships

Join The Bell’s student newsroom to report on the latest education issues in New York City and beyond with a focus on equity.

We are recruiting student interns for multiple roles across both the Miseducation and P.S. Weekly podcasts. Our team will determine which role is the best fit for selected students based on interest and availability.

  • Miseducation: A deeply-reported podcast that sheds light on inequities in the NYC public school system. Each season features stories on a common theme. Past themes have included transfer high schools and school segregation. Student reporters receive mentorship from industry professionals.

  • P.S. Weekly: A weekly podcast that explores timely issues facing students and teachers in New York City schools. The Bell's team of high school audio producers work alongside Chalkbeat's seasoned education reporters to bring fresh stories, perspectives, and commentary.

Program dates and requirements

  • Program start dates may vary based on role. In general, students must be available in person Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from approximately 4:15-6:15 p.m. from December through May.

  • Interns should expect to do an additional 1-2 hours of work each week outside of meeting times.
